“But there are also a lot of aspects of doubt and insecurity that the level of success doesn’t even affect,” he added. “And, partially, I’m glad, because I don’t necessarily want that external reward to solve some sort of internal issue. I think that Josh and I will take every stage with a bit of needing to overcome something, and wanting to work through something. We never want to feel completely comfortable; we want people to see us working through something, and for us to struggle, and see a bit of turmoil and chaos.”

In 2015, Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph’s blockbuster Blurryface hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Rock and Alternative Albums charts. Three years later — after a quiet first half of 2018 on social media — the duo tweeted in August that it was “ready to stop babying this little guy and let him go.” That little guy is Trench, the album out Oct. 5.
Ahead of the release of their new album, Trench, Twenty One Pilots have announced that they will be signing copies of their album in select HMV stores across the UK.
The signing sessions will take place around the same time as the band’s headline UK arena tour next February and March.
The duo will embark on their fifth and biggest Aussie tour to date this December hitting the arenas of Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for all ages shows. According to Twenty One Pilots’ record label, Sustained By Ramen, the One-piece suit” music video– which quickly earned # 1 Trending status on YouTube Wednesday– got an approximated 5.2 million plays within the first 24 hours.
The beginning of the ‘Trench’ era was visually marked in the ‘Jumpsuit’, with the car from the band’s ‘Heavydirtysoul’ video still on fire. So for the start of the band’s new live experience Tyler and Josh obviously wheeled the car onto the stage at the Brixton academy and lit it on fire.
This abridged set was just a taste of what might be to come. The singer was clearly pleased to be back in front of a crowd, often grinning as he leapt around the stage and later scaled the venue wall onto the balcony during “Car Radio.” “I have so many pages of things I want to talk to you guys about,” he noted, without mentioning what any of them were. The performance ended with another kind of blaze during “Trees.” The pair of musicians both climbed on small platforms again held up by fans, slamming dual bass drums in unison, as white smoke surged from the stage, the car re-ignited behind. A mass of yellow confetti exploded, obscuring and then revealing the musicians as they smiled and took a bow.
