Twenty One Pilots: ‘Trench’ Album Stream & Download – Listen Now! twenty one pilots performed their first live show in over a year at Brixton’s O2 Academy last night and it was nothing short of mind blowing.

Trench is the fifth studio album by American duo Twenty One Pilots. It is the band’s third studio album released through Fueled by Ramen. It is scheduled to be released on October 5, 2018.

This abridged set was just a taste of what might be to come. The singer was clearly pleased to be back in front of a crowd, often grinning as he leapt around the stage and later scaled the venue wall onto the balcony during “Car Radio.” “I have so many pages of things I want to talk to you guys about,” he noted, without mentioning what any of them were. The performance ended with another kind of blaze during “Trees.” The pair of musicians both climbed on small platforms again held up by fans, slamming dual bass drums in unison, as white smoke surged from the stage, the car re-ignited behind. A mass of yellow confetti exploded, obscuring and then revealing the musicians as they smiled and took a bow.

During the latter Tyler split the crowd in two, making us sing different parts of the chorus in unison, and he seemed genuinely touched by the response. If this is how 5,000 fans are reacting to a track that’s been out for a matter of weeks, can you imagine the reaction they’ll get when they return to play The SSE Wembley Arena in the new year?

After months of secretly teasing their return, in July the band confirmed the title of their fifth studio album would be ‘TRENCH’ and returned with two new songs (and videos) ‘Jumpsuit’ and ‘Nico and the Niners’. This week (Aug 8) they followed that up with a third song and video ‘Levitate’.

All three videos tell the story of TRENCH, a concept based on the story of Clancy who wants to escape a mysterious city/cult called DEMA (more on that here). Watch the three videos below.

A highlight from the show was when the duo performed ‘Lane Boy’. They did the classic ‘everybody get down on the floor’ stunt, but we did not expect it to go OFF as much as it did. The CO2 cannons, the guys in hazmat suits, the lights – it was an assault on ALL the senses and we didn’t want it to end.

Whatever this one-off show was (was it the end of Blurryface? Is it the start of the Bandito/Trench era?) twenty one pilots didn’t scrimp on production. Despite the smaller venue, they gave it the full twenty one pilots treatment, think multiple outfit changes, pyro, acrobats, you name it, they did it, and with each song on the setlist having it’s own look and feel fans definitely got their money’s worth.

In his first interview since twenty one pilots returned from their year-long break, frontman Tyler Joseph has opened up in a half-hour chat with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

Whether this is what fans can expect from Twenty One Pilots’ upcoming global trek, the Bandito Tour, which kicks off October 16th in Nashville, is uncertain. The car on fire is likely to be a central visual to the album and its live promotion, and the duo’s tendency to constantly change outfits and don various masks throughout last night’s performance suggests that a more theatrical element will emerge. After the band announced they’d be back to London next March, adding a third date at Wembley’s SSE Arena, Joseph hinted, “When we come back we’re going to show you a lot of things you’ve never seen before.”
